TOURISM AND YACHTING

Giosue' Carducci, one of the most famous and beloved italian Poets, mentioned the city of Genoa in one of his odes defining the same as MARBLE ARCH OF PALACES. Genoa lays like an amphitheatre up and down the surrounding hills and this is the way in which appears coming from the open sea.Genoa has one of the richest history in Italy, each one of the numerous palaces, churches and small villas is so reach of work of art to call the city as THE SUPERB. The first thing to speak about the tourism is the worldwide renowned Nautical Exhibition.During the month of October, yearly, this Exhibition receives thousands of visitors and buyers bringing all over the world the skill of italian shipyards. This sector is under a full growth 'cause the Government has reduced the fiscal pressure on it.New plans and new areas are the confirmation of this actual new course. At the eastern end of Genoa port, there is a yacht docks,so called Darsena Duca degli Abruzzi.Few societies like YACHT CLUB ITALIANO,ITALIAN NAVY LEAGUE, ROWING CLUB and E.L.P.I.S. they have the management of all available spaces and berthings. The Port Administration, just to support this sector, has allotted other areas between the Airport and Multedo Oil Terminal;the management has been granted to the Italian Navy League and other small Nautical Parties. We've spoken about the Nautical Exhibition but we've to speak about the areas that give hospitality to its structures;the so called Marina of Genoa Fair, situated between the zones for naval repair workshops and the International Fair Pavilions. This site offers berthings and full service for boats, motorsailer on 30000 sqm of surface,2000 sqm of which are covered and sheltered.Berthings available are well 500 for any boat size.Eastward Marina of Genoa Fair there is the NAUTICAL BASE with 700 berthings,12000 sqm of surface and 48000 sqm of ashore areas for services and facilities and 100 car parking sets. There is another ambitious project about the partial transformation of an area within the Old Docks, between the Cereal Silos and the areas built for the 500th anniversary of Columbus discovery (Expo' 92).This last project will involve new berthings,Hotels, services, repair workshops, fuel pumps, facilities and all that could be of interest and necessity for Sunday seafarers. Genoa is the shipping capital and is going to become the Nautical Seafaring Capital too.
